Background:Mathiu's story is a bit different than most, being born and raised in Sigil, rather than Faerun. His parents were both Mercykillers and had expected it of such for him to be one too. The pressure of him being one, however, caused him to make a complete about face.

Focusing on himself, however, he quickly took the streets as a womanizer, a alcoholic, and a small time burglar. This had led up to him being caught with the wrong crowd and, ultimately, having made the wrong deal with someone and stole something that caused someone to intentionally get killed.

This caused a complete shift of focus, seeing the error of his ways. To atone, he found those responsible and ensured equal payment for what they have caused.

Realizing that soon he now had placed himself in a strong position, having being the indirect cause of death to an innocent and the direct cause of those that were not. He quickly hopped on the first Portal Key to Faerun before anyone would be wiser. The Mercykillers (he assumed, anyway) would be sated by his self-imposed banishment and the death of those involved.

Having nothing left, he found his way to Scornubel and stayed there for some time, feeling familiar enough with it. Eventually, he adapted to the sort of language tone those in the city had, although his accent and use of the Cant comes out on occasion.

Taking an interest in atoning for the innocent life his theft has caused, he joined up with some followers of Hoar in Scornubel to seek out those who have been wronged and cannot find justice that they seek. Blood for blood, treasure for treasure, he seeks very little reward beyond what he needs to survive and do his tasks. With the occasional drink for a job well done, of course.

After much traveling, he has made his way to Baldur's Gate to do the bidding of his god.

Goals: Atonement for his past deeds, helping make the lives of average citizens a little bit better.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Generally doing things for those who are unable to do will be the best route. Alternatively getting him involved with his previous life in Sigil would be interesting.
