Background:Born in the deep wilds with her family Merlara spent many of her early years in exclusion from the other races of Faerûn. Being a bard with skills in the innate magics and tribal music was never enough for the young elf. A curiosity uncommon for her people always burned within and it eventually lead her to leave home at a young age, to explore the world outside the forest.

Many years of traveling lead her to Silvermoon in 1205 DR, With her curiosity and desire to learn still burning strong she decided to attend Foclucan a bard college. It was here she learned of the world and within Silverymoon she rekindled a lost love of magic her people may have once held but have since forgotten.

Few things of great importance happened during her stay, however one of the most important was her finding of Azuth. In her young years and early study's of magic Merlara was impulsive, she held no wisdom and would abuse her gift. She was in truth wild and her magic along with it. One such time the young elf was trying to skip an entire tier of magic desiring to summon a fireball even with her basic understanding of the first tier. As one might expect it was disastrous and she took out a section of the library, luckily no one was harmed and the books had been protected from fire, However the walls had not been. The sage in charge of the young elf decided her punishment would be to read tome after tome upon the lord of spells until either she understood the teachings or the vault of sages had emptied. after a month or two the elf had taken the teachings to heart and has since worshiped the lord of spells in her own way.

The year 1235 brought the Black Horde, The elf stayed for the siege and did her best to protect what had become her home and life's work. However there was nothing to be done the building was destroyed by the orcs powerful siege engines and all she had was lost. After the siege ended the elf left the city and decided upon a new path, she would gain the knowledge and wisdom of the sages who once taught her and return to rebuild the college and teach the next generation. She has been traveling ever since recently arriving on the sword coast.
