Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Fear begins to grip the hearts of the refugees traversing the Coast Way as rumours spread after an attack by a gang calling themselves the Toecutters. Four men and two women were killed, apparently, and four more women and nine children are accounted as missing. The single survivor escaped but had all his toes cut off. Rumour has it that even the Flaming Fist are preparing to investigate further, given the state of the city and the importance of the southern trade routes at this time.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumour quickly spreads forth from Baldur's Gate that renowned veteran of the Amn-Gate war, Lieutenant Sardeph Armstrong, lead a successful ambush upon the Toecutter gang upon the Coast Way. The no-nonsense officer and a band of four other adventurers laid a trap for the gang and killed at least 13 of them and captured one prisoner. It would only be a matter of time, he said, until the gang was wholly routed and punished for their crimes. Many of the refugees took comfort from these words and the swift response of the Fist to this threat to trade and safe passage upon the Coast Way.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumours spread from the lips of one Arianna of Beregost that a certain dwarf of the Ogrecrusher clan has been most heroic. Indeed, although most of the rumours it warps into seem to focus greatily on the fact that gnolls waylay people and are not afraid to attend to necromancy to bolster their own numbers.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumour quickly spreads that Lieutenant Armstrong of the Flaming Fist returned successful from his mission to emancipate the abducted refugees, with nine in total being rescued. It is said that this act of gallantry has slated him for promotion, and the adventurers who accompanied him, Medals of Valour.
A separate rumour begins to circulate, sourced primarily from the rescued refugees, about the Gang working for drow slavers. They also insinuate that the Gang abandoned their stolen treasures in their haste to flee the wrath of the Flaming Fist. When asked why the Fist did not recover them, they say that Captain Armstrong said with the potential threat of drow coming to claim their slaves it was unwise to linger in the area, and that their safety was paramount over a few trinkets of gold or silver.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Following a brief uproar and a rare display of Bentley enraged, two adventurers are indefinitely banned from the Friendly Arm Inn for one of them violently assaulting the other right in front of Bentley himself and subsequently scaring the patrons present, necessitating a number of drinks on the house. The guards comment on the brazen wit of the assaulter - dressed in the distinctive garb of a Thayan Knight - and how lucky he was to still be breathing following that blatant display of violence, followed by renewed assurances more quietly uttered that adventurers, despite their deep pockets, are nothing but trouble.
The guards can also be heard declaring that they would not hold their fire should they witness any one of the two setting foot in the Friendly Arm Inn keep again.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
The slow rebuilding of the outer farmlands proceeds through the winter, and although it is slow and difficult work, hope seems to find areas to bloom. A few stories about monsters hunting the people of secluded farmlands seems to have died down as of late. Giving way to tales of local heroes and bold deeds to aid those that need it most.
Most recent is the tale of a lone paladin taking on a murderous beast in the forest to the east of the city, a beast rumoured to prey on lone travlers walking the paths whenever the sun was lost beyond the horizon.

In the southern farmlands, just beyond the campfire past the Wyrm's Crossing gates, two peculiar saplings would be seen that were not there before.

Gellana Mirrorshade was seen consecrating the road in front of the Friendly Arm Inn and shaking her head at all the needless troublemakers their establishment attracts like moths to flames.
The Inn guards got a very good look at the pair and are told to be on the lookout for a brown-haired human male wearing a black funary mask and purple armour, in addition to his black-hooded, black cloaked and blue-tunic wearing accomplice and to refuse them both entry to the Inn from now onwards

DM Theophanies wrote:Chaos descended onto Beregost as creatures from the plane of Elemental fire began to appear throughout quite farming village. Of particular note is the activity at the Song of the Morning where High Priest Kelddath Ormlyr, through receiving a premonition, recruited adventurers to travel and confront a dragon on the elemental plane before it could enter into the Temple complex. Temple defenders secured and prepared a defense should the unspeakable occur while the adventurers confronted the dragon. The adventurers were successful much to the quick actions of the High Priest.
///Please note there is a partial retcon effectively changing the location of the battle to the elemental plane of fire. This is an official DM ruling and if any characters involved would not have planar traveled they can be thought of to remain behind. I thank you all for your cooperation.

Rumours spread of a fiend sighting before the gates of the Friendly Arm Inn. In the confusion a woman, Liliana Duskmoon, beat a hat wearing man bloody and was ejected by the guards and banished. Two days are left to run of this removal.

A Gnome and a rather large Iron Golem stunned the regulars outside of the Friendly Arms Inn. The Gnome claimed to be having financial issues and was looking to sell the Iron Golem for a cheap price. After showing off it's obedience and skill by having it pick up some large boulder the bidding began.
A few adventurers bantered back and forth but the ultimate winner of the bid was Selengil, Dreadlord of Darkhold for 25,000 coin. The transaction went through and the Gnome departed. Shortly there after, the Golem vibrated and began to shrink, reverting back to it's true form, that of a Cow.
The cow, affectionately named Fred by the others, was lead back to Darkhold to be studied for the magic used in the swindle was intricate. The typical tavern braggarts say that Selengil really 'bought the farm' with this one.

Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
A house in Beregost has been burned to the ground recently in what the authorities are calling deliberate Arson, Robbery and Murder. The residence that once belonged to a Gnomish inventor named Elford was burned to the ground with the body of a Gnome being founded inside. A masked man with a large burlap sack was seen fleeing from the residence when the blaze began. The identity of this man was unknown but the local guards are heavily enforcing their no hoods or masks policy.

Rumours persist that a large shipment of fine stone went missing along with it's escort south of the Friendly Arms Inn. The stone was thought to be bound for Baldur's Gate though no official reaction has been given to these claims. A further rumour suggests that this is because the loss has caused some embarrassment at the Duchal Palace.

At Baldur's Gate this morning local officials were delighted to acquire the assistance of Stonemasons generously diverted from rebuilding Nobles houses nearby to help complete a place of learning for the poor. No Nobles were present for the ceremony. It is thought the Nobles have agreed to put their own projects on hold until this important work is finished.

Word has spread that the Midnight Sun Diamond is on tour. This famous diamond of enormous size and clarity will be displayed at unknown locations along the coast for the next few weeks.
