Grey Bear was born just off the outskirts of the Sword Coast; his mother was human, his father an Orc - who Grey has little memory of, ashamed and scared of the horror baby Grey was left in the wild to die by his mother when he was born, where he was latter found by the Arrow Eater tribe just off the coast. The tribe mostly consisted of Mountain Orcs and although Grey was shunned and bullied for being half human he was tolerated and allowed to stay. His younger years were hard and he was forced to do difficult tasks in the hopes he would get killed - however Grey was strong and always came back, this caught the attention of the Chief who Grey impressed greatly with a display of great strength and cunning.
He was later adopted by the Chief who dubbed him 'Grey Bear, warrior of the north' and became a respected member of the tribe and one of the strongest warriors they had. One evening, while Grey was sharpening his axe a human crawled up the hill into their village, a male human who called himself Urick - he was badly beaten and very near death - yet amazingly did not fall; as if fighting death itself. He spoke to Grey Bear and asked him to find his daughters, Lilly and Lucy who had been taken by an evil order of monks; in that moment Urick died. Holding great respect for this human and a large degree of honour for his bravery Grey Bear decided to go find his two children. The chief however, was not happy - and he was instantly labeled as a traitor they taunted him on the hillside calling him weak, and pathetic - but Grey Bear marched on into the Human village nearby with rocks thrown at him by the tribe.
Grey Bear carried the human male with him, so he could give the human a proper burial - amazingly though the Urick was slowly begining to recover from his wounds; Grey decided to Leave the human with the hands of a local healer, a Half Orc female called Riol who was kind and allowed them both to stay. Once Urick recovered Grey and Urick travelled together in search of his children; Grey Bear trained Urick how to use the axe and how to channel the great spirit of the bear in battle while Urick showed Grey Bear how to block and wear armour. For weeks Urick, Grey and Riol stayed close and kept each other safe and eventually Riol, after learning about Grey Bear offered him a place in her tribe which he accepted.
