Formal Letters to the Dukes of Baldurs Gate

Unread post by SteelForgedSword »

*A man in a dark hood and cloak, his visible features sharp and his ears pointed arrives before the Gates to the Dukes Palace. He gives the Fist soldier on duty a letter to be given to the Herald of the Dukes. He speaks softly, then leaves the way he came*

"Please see the Hearld gets this, it is quite important, I come under the auspices of Tarsakh, Arch Druid of the Circle."

*the guard looks at the unsealed letter and the letter reads*

Your Graces,

I humbly request an audience with Yourselves or a Chosen representative of the Rulers of the City of Baldur's Gate. I have been assigned by Tarsakh, Arch Druid of the Keepers of the Circle, to represent our interests in your Lordships City and surrounding Lands.

With your leave, it my sincerest wish to be officially recognized as Ambassador between the Circle and the City of Baldurs Gate.

I wish to encourage and foster understanding and cooperation about our ways to the citizens of your fine city. I wish to work with your graces and those who defend your city in it's matters; the Weavemasters, the Flaming Fist, and the rest. I call many members of these fine organizations friend and comrade.

Darkness, seemingly at all times, seems to swirl about the Land and our Causes are, may I humbly suggest, more alike than you might think.

I firmly believe that by working together for the common good of all, we can achieve much. Since my iniation into the ranks of the Circle, I have chosen this road as my Purpose and my Vision to see to fullfillment as my Lifes work.

I anixously await your response and am available at your leisure.

May the Father and the Lady watch over you and keep you,

((OCC: If a DM would like to volunteer to do such a meeting IG at a time conveinent for them, that would be great. My vision is to be that which I laid out in the letter. I would like to involve other representatives from the other Good/Neutral Guilds as well, either at the meeting it can take place or down the road, however it might go down. My goal is to better organize the forces of Good/Neutral against the evil going on the server and provide a focal point for such forces to organize, enliven RP, etc. And, to establish a kind of United Nations in game. If anyone is interested from the Guilds, please send me a PM. This has been baking in my brains for months and I am quite excited, if you can't tell.... ))

A letter bearing the Weave Master Seal is delivered to the royal palace.

Honorable dukes,

In light of recent events we wish to ask for permission to bring Noric Pateel, the one convicted of Necromancy, to the Istari Tower so we can keep him under surveillance. He has brought something to our attention, something we do not wish to reveal in letter, and we feel that we should keep him close to be sure it isn't some sort of trick.

Worry not for he will not be able to do a thing while he's under our supervision. And as soon as we've cleared any suspicion we have on him he shall be escorted out of the gate once again.

Looking forward to hear your decision.

*Letters arrive bearing the Seal of the Circle to Duke Eltan of the Fist, Exarch Goodmane of the Weave Masters, Jonas Rokranon of the Radiant Heart, Dallenthel Wyndsoul: Head of House Wyndsoul, and to the remaining Dukes of Baldur’s Gate.*

For the last few months, many matters have come to my attention and that of the Circles allies. Necromancers, Banites, Barbarians, and many other threats. The Circle has done it’s best to work with the other goodly factions of the City; the Fist, the Weave master’s and so on. I have seen the Fist upon the road protecting travelers, the ‘Masters guarding the sanctity of the Weave, members of the Circle slaying defilers of the Land who have been a danger to us all, and so on. A spirit of cooperation has emerged to address these threats and others. Many positive strides have been made in regards to these issues, but I believe we can do more.

Last we all meant with the Dukes, we were to discuss these issues and establish areas of patrol, responsibilities and so on. I believe the time has come to meet again with the Council of Four and move forward.

I propose the establishment of a formal assembly of the factions of the City of Baldurs Gate, beneath the stature of the Council of Four and the Lord’s Alliance.

The purpose of the assembly is too provide a focal point of cooperation and diplomacy. Here, member factions may address common threats, share information, debate issues that affect all members and ensure the goodly factions of this part of the Realms work together.

We are stronger together, than apart; our efforts against evil better together, than alone.

My specific recommendations are listed below:

“The Assembly of Bloomridge.”

Charter; Rough Draft.

((Bloomridge is the “old city” at the center of Baldurs Gate))

Moto: May our labors spread forth , to benefit of the Land and it’s Peoples, and evil be banished from the light of our efforts.

-Each member of the Assembly retains it’s rights to act independently within the scope of their present and past duties and fealty’s.

-The Assembly shall be overseen by the Council of Four; each Duke having a solitary vote of their own.

-The Assembly shall meet at the beginning of each season; more often in emergency’s as necessary.

-Each member must appoint a Speaker to a term of one year. Said Speaker address the Assembly as the voice of the member faction.

-Each member has a vote regarding matters brought to the Assemblies attention in regards to disagreements between factions and common threats.

-Each member shall respect the areas of patrol and enforcement and laws of each member’s areas. Grievances and disagreements shall be brought to the Assemblies attention for amicable resolution.

-Each member and said members representative shall do their best to adhere to the spirit of cooperation of the Assembly and share information in a timely manner to enable prompt action of threats.

-end rough draft.

I formally request the Council of Four to schedule another meeting at their convenience to discuss the merits of this proposal and wish those present at the last meeting; The Radiant Heart, The Fist, and The Weave masters to attend. I also request that House Wyndsoul send a representative as they have shown honor and bravery in their efforts; as their founding of a Noble House demonstrates.

Those who seek to protect that which matters to them know the fight never ends and I believe the establishment of the Assembly to be a goodly cause and worth the time…and our efforts.

Written in flowing elven script a simple letter for the Dukes eyes only is written on fine parchment with the scent of pine needles and the forests sticking closely to the parchment.

Dear Dukes of Baldur's Gate,

It is with grattitude that I write this letter to you, for as a Ranger guarding the forests, trails, and roads of the Gate for many seasons now, I could not have imagined a more splendid city to protect and esteem as my duty.

My name is Aloria, I am a simple wood elf from the High Forest. I travel with my faithful panther Orlpar and the two of us wanted to officially lend our service to you.

I have become familiar with your city and it's surroundings, people and hostil enemies, and roads and paths. I am skilled with the sword and bow, and seldom am I seen unless I wish it.

My services are freely given. If you require them for any mission of good heart count on my support.

I frequantly venture into your city and Beregost, should you need me a simple letter to either inn, the ELfsong of the Feldpost, and I will appear in your court to recieve whatever mission you ask. Please do not consider any mission too small or too important. I will treat either with equal dilligence and care.

Sincerely,

Aloria ap Ravar
Servant of Solonor and the Peoples of the Gate
12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
