A healer

Unread post by eternal night »

With permission from Ashenie and Alexander, an aasimar woman assists in the church with the gift of divine healing, simply limiting herself to Ashenie's guiding words and the Guardians instructions, she seems like a novice healer, not used to blood, diseased and the sick, wearing old brown robes instead of her usual outfit, her aid is simply limited to healing spells.

She is seen whispering to the other healers when idling by.

The Temple's Guardian stumbles into the infirmary, using his spear as a walking stick, just before dawn. He is accompanied by a far-eastern man. He quickly finds rest in the infirmary as his wounds are tended to, unconscious with exhaustion.

Preparations for winter

As winter comes, the Temple of Ilmater seems to be busy with activities. Generous donations of food have increased to face the hardships of the upcoming times. During the last tenday, a generous donation of gold has also been offered to the Temple. Various adventurers, Knights and workers have been seen moving large crates of supplies, grain and meat in the Temple, aiding in the storage with additional pairs of arms. The Sisters of the Temple spent time checking the incoming food, and finding appropriate means of conservation.

Shelters are checked, and some tongues even whisper that the old Pathfinder Hall has been prepared to welcome the homeless and avoid the cruel fate of sleeping in the cold. It seems that the Temple could receive help to improve the condition of those shelters, the involvment of an Amnian merchant mentionned here and there. While the preparations seem to take time, they seem carefully planned, so that they do not alter the daily help still offered to all those who come by The Temple. Rumors of additional shelters in case of dire emergencies in various organisation of the city such as House Vale or the Hall of Inner Light and the local Temples comes to add to the possibilities offered, and speak of the concern of the city as whole.

Rumors of a food shortage seems to have left worries grow. Often, adventurers and organisations alike have been seen reaching the Temple with the willingness to help. A network of intertwined projects seems to take shape, extending to make sure that supplies would not lack in dire times. House Darius, House Vale and House Divine have been seen recently discussing donations and trading, so supplies can still be delivered and divided among the citizens of Badlur's Gate. Regular deliveries of a nurishing stew brewed with mushrooms seem to have begun recently.

Security around the Temple seems still quiet, but present. Knights of the Radiant Heart, Tormtars and Guardians help the city watch patrolling, and keep an eye open to any agitation around the Temple and the Orphanage. Their presence does not seem oppressive, and they are sometimes seen helping the most injured, or those who struggle to walk, to reach the Temple, find a seat or get a bowl of soup.

The Temple keeps inviting any who suffer or need to come find warmth, bread and soup. Healing is offered as much as the Temple seems able, checking on the condition of many before the winter would become too cold. A special care is noted for the most vulnerable, the homeless, pregnant women and the newborn and children.
This rumor is based upon various donations, actions, and ongoing projects from players during the past weeks

"Her screams are hardly heard any more… she hasn’t the strength. "

A quiet silhouette stays in the Chapel, contemplating night and day the heights of a revered tale. Lost souls, dire endeavors, straining tasks, all burdening willing shoulders along the steep path that was chosen moons ago. There is no respite, no end, and her troubled breath only grows enduring in the quiet of the night. Occasionals visit, if they do, do not allow a fair repose, fulfilling the task of warmth once given in the sanctuary. Sometimes, her gaze lingers upon the door, as her hands bread several pieces of cord together, as they wrap her wrists, upon the open book "Murder Rended, Mercy Mended". The cords brush several lines, always the same, as if the endeavor were specifically aiming to imbue the fabric with dried ink from the book. : "Let your Faith be your strength. Mercy will prevail over the darkness.", "Things will be harder before they are made easier. Hold your faith close to you and your loved ones. It will be the beacon of light through the darkness."

The study of a runic art seems to have produced a small piece of scroll, cherished in dear embraces. Though weak, and trembling, the health of the praying sister seems on the edge of a long fall. Yet, it does not surrender yet. She is not seen leaving the chapel, and only stands thanks to the mercy of occasional visitors, or Ilmatari kind enough to lend her strength.

Often, her attention lingers in the void, where nothing remains. Hushed conversations pass in her eyes, and she listens until pain reaps the only fragment of attention remaining. But it rises again, and second after second, remains upon the emptiness, revering and treasuring something unseen and unheard. Sorry as she seems, she cherishes her cracked locket against her chest, holding it as a newborn child, as a talisman against her heart, as a treasure in her hand. A frail hand attempts to extend, sometimes, but fails at the task. Hushed, inaudible words come to cross her lips, a foreign, strange dialect that seems familiar. It dies, as the light in her eyes, in the shadows of silence. She then prays again, at the feet of the depiction of Dianne Williams remains a very ancient poster, from another time :

[A special thanks to DM Unstable for resending a clean picture]
The ancient poster is likely in a poor state. Another hand has added upon the other side of the paper :
"For all those children who have disappeared in the night..."

A large donation of food arrives in the Temple of Ilmater, carried by a Tempurian woman. Her generosity praised, the Ilmatari seem to endeavor to distribute the food to the needy. Rations of food are made, carefully prepared for men, women and children. For several days, homeless, hungry and people who cannot reach the sanctuary are being brought meals, soup of grain and stew. While the Winter begins, the Temple seems to gather donations, volunteers and warm spirits to tend to the needy and mitigate the harm the weather causes.

A young Damaran man has begun making regular visits to the temple, usually at night. He prays in silence, and frequently offers help with anything that could use another pair of hands. If asked what he is praying for and why, however, he quickly becomes tight-lipped and uncomfortable.

MENDING IN THE MEANTIME
Since court, the quiet Sister of the Temple of the Broken God has endeavored to reach back the people in need in the streets. In addition to the care usually offered and the healing provided, words of hope spread the news that the Duchal Court heard the hardships the population has to endure. Asking for some time to let them finish talks in Waterdeep, the Ilmatari tries to offer support in the meantime, reporting the words of the Dukes themselves : "Their suffering is heard and seen, and will not go unanswered". Whatever waiting time it implies does not seem to alter the dedication of the Sister, offering the opportunity to the poorest to claim warm soup, a piece of bread and a few pieces in the Temple of the Broken God. The work is straining, and the Sister is rarely seen out of the city, solely to gather herbs in the night.

Actions related to Non-Player Characters and use of donations have been submitted to DM Team's approval.

Mending the Youngest

As spring begins after such an enduring winter, the Temple of The Broken God invites all who wish to get support and care for their children's health. As we know that such dire times might have left some lingering effects on the youngest, out of anxiety, troubles, or lack of food and shelter, we wish to offer what we can to help them be in better health and spirit.

Do not hesitate to reach the Temple should you be in need. Healing and care are provided for free.

Peace be with you,

A small donation of fish makes the joy of the orphans. "For the cats and their kitten", it was said to be ofered. The Sisters of the Orphanage take great care to help the Orphans to feed some of the cats lingering around the area or taken inside by compassionate children, especially those who are meager or present injuries, or pregnancy. Not too much, so their instinct remains, and enough to keep them living another day. Sister Ashenie takes the opportunity to help them learn about the first approach with animals and how to consider them with respect.

A quiet and veiled Sister prays through the night. Quiet and withdrawn, she seems to repeat a mantra in a circle of candles. Mashed angelicas miwed with strong past are used to draw symbols upon her skin, celestial runes and words of ancient prayers. Ink mixed with holy water and juices of angelicas are used to enscribe words upon poor remanings of bandages, used to wrap her body and hair. She stands difficultly and walks by the door at dawn. It might be hard to notice any change, though she goes to pray more often, baths the feet of the statues, and walks in slower motions than usual. Her attention is slower too.

Church of Ilmater RP

Unread post by Ashenie »

Seculded in the Temple of The Broken God, Sister Ashenie is rarely seen out, only to care for the youngest of the Orphans several hours a day. In addition to the daily tasks with the wounded and the children, the veiled Sister spends most of the time and all the nights praying before the altar of the Broken God. While her attention waxes and wanes, it sometimes settles upon the statue of Saint Merielle Silene, Billy and Dianne Williams, as if answers could be provided. Chants of hope against nightmares and warmth against the darkest night, unyielding care against suffering and pain. Lullabies of promise are sung for children, for the youngest. Sometimes, a very young child or a cradle remains with the Sister throughout the night, in the chapel, entrusted within her care. A large frsco, drawn with chalk, begins to adorn the floor of the chapel with depictions of various runes. The womb of the sky unites cloud with a bright sun, under the symbols of the Triad. Pleading hands are bound with a measure of cord. The fresco looks unfinished so far.

The ritual set up with holy water, diamonds, flowers and candles upon a chalk fresco on the floor of the Shrine of The Suffering
"Do not regret or dread. They are among me. And like many others.. They will grow here."

During the night of the sixth day of Mirtul, the Chapel of the Broken God was illuminated by devotion. Rumors report that members of House Darius, along with a Paladin of the Ruby Rose and Sister Ashenie performed a ritual to help find some children who disappeared weeks ago. Father Marcus prayed with the Sister. Lights filled the chapel, and the echoes of steps and voices were heard while the prayer was sung. Peace washed the Temple, a sensation of serenity that even visitors could feel. Ser Khalso was tasked to escort two children back home, while the Sister was left within the care of the Guardian, Nathan Goldenmane. Rumors speak of great exhaustion and the Sister seems to recover from a demanding endeavor.

*Teris goes to the temple of Ilmater carrying some flowers that he planted in a small hollowed out log. He places them at the shrine to Saint Merielle and says that he brought them to make Ashenie feel happy and that Nathan told him to place them there*
