Spell bugs compilation list

As we don't have a subforum here labelled Spells (although that sure would be a good idea, hint hint!) I was thinking that this thread could be used to gather bugs with player-cast spells. For bugs with spells cast by mobs or NPCs please see the Creatures section.

Please post in this thread if you find a buggy player-cast spell and it will be added to this list as soon as it has been confirmed. You don't need to know exactly how it's broken to post here, but the more information given give the easier it will be to confirm (and hopefully fix)!



Incorrect duration:

Spell name: tooltip duration, actual duration, intended duration when different from tooltip


Nixie's Grace: 1 min / CL, 2 rounds / CL
Pass Without Trace: 1 min / CL, 1 hour (5 min) / CL
Non-detection: 1 hour (5 min) / CL, 1 min / CL
Gemidan's Paralytic Missile: 1 round, probably 1 round / CL like Hold Person



Incorrect function:


Programmed image: Hard to get rid of, image can remain in party list
Bless Weapon: does magical damage and not divine as intended
Blessed Aim: Low CL
Embrace the Wild: Low CL
Quill Barrage: Can't be maximized or empowered but can be extended despite being instant cast
Quill Barrage: Causes Physical damage instead of Magical as the description states
Melf's Minute Meteors: Bullets summoned have level requirement 61 and don't vanish upon resting or relogging
Invisibility Sphere: Only affects the caster, like normal invisibility
Mislead: Stays in party for its duration, like programmed image
Mass Camouflage (plant Clerics): Wrong spell level, should be level 2 but is level 4



Hardcoded (can't change):

Camouflage: 1 min / CL
Mass Camouflage (Druids, plant Clerics): 1 min / CL - needs tooltip upgrade
Mass Camouflage (Rangers): 1 min / 2 CL - needs tooltip upgrade



Fixed or working as intended:

Dimension Door
Hilater's (normal & Greater) Misdirection (only works on hostile targets - don't forget to toggle hostile before pvp!)

Unconfirmed or Testing in Progress:
Bless Weapon: alignment
Storm Avatar
Epic Mass Heal
Summon Creature I-X
Bladedance
Fumble
Chaos
Mass Heal - radius
Mass Cure spells - radius

Programmed Image can be hard to get rid off, and if you manage to get rid of it there will still be an image at the side of the screen, like if a player in your party has left your area.

Dimension Door does not work any more, either its ground or rune target variants.

I have a cleric with access to mage armor, shield of faith, and that other spell which adds ac to armor and shields. My base ac with imp expertise is 32, using all 3 spells should boost my ac to 40 but it doesn't. Im not getting the full +4 or +5 ac bonus. It only increases my ac to 36. Hope it gets fixed soon.

You have +AC items I assume? They don't stack with spells. Mage Armor and Magic Vestment on your chest slot don't stack either since they both provide armour AC.

I double checked and Magic Vestment & Shield of Faith at Cleric lvl 20 are working as intended.

Great... there goes that build's usefulness. Anything with under 40 ac is a waste of time to play.

Should storm avatar work with Magical Beast Wildshape (and other shapes)? I know it doesn't work in the original game but I also know that it DID work before the big update. I'm ok either way but would like to know if I need to look at rebuilding one of my characters. An official ruling would be great. Thanks!

Storm Avatar doesn't work at all correctly. I tried it with no weapon, then equipped a club, no electrical damage at all. Shifted to dragon shape.. nothing. Cast it again and it applied the damage but to only one attack. Unshifted and the spell was gone. etc. :(

the 'implementation' of the Invisibility (Invisibility,Greater) spells makes the Blindfight-feat almost worthless, as you cannot target an invisible monster until it is attacking you, now.

Mass Camouflage lasts 1 min/cl for druids (and likely plant domain clerics). But for rangers, it's a bit more complicated, the spell seems to function as if rangers were only getting 1/2 CL per ranger level, not taking into account the BG change that gives rangers full caster level. (If a 21 ranger/9 assassin with Practiced Spellcaster: Ranger casts the spell it would last 14 minutes. The CL being 1/2 the ranger levels + 4 from PSC: Ranger.)

I've noticed that a few spells seem to be a lower caster level than they should be for dispel checks. The ones I've noticed so far are Blessed Aim and Embrace the Wild, both cast on a 30 CL ranger, but are dispelled by Greater Dispels (possibly lesser dispels, even, but I'll do some more testing to confirm on that), when they shouldn't be.
There's been others having the same issues with other spells on other classes, but I haven't confirmed them.

Ah, good call. I tested on a ranger so that explains that.
