Please take note that the 100% RCR period has come to an end. The RCR NPC will now refund at its normal rates, as described here: https://wiki.bgtscc.net/index.php?title=XP_Transfering

Greetings everyone,

The past three years have been exciting and rewarding for both Endelyon and myself. Watching this server grow in so many ways has been amazing. Although neither of us really planned to become administrators for BG:TSCC -- it was basically either that or watch the server disappear -- I do think, without putting too many words in Endelyon's mouth, that we've both generally enjoyed it.

That being said, neither of us truly intended our adminship to last quite as long as it has. And we are now finally preparing to pass the reins to the next generation of leaders -- leaders with fresh ideas and new ambition for our home here on the Sword Coast.

Those new leaders will be Miasmata, our Lead Builder, and Zanniej, our Forum Developer.

Sometime this week, we will be setting them up with admin-in-training titles and granting them all of the accesses that we have. Then, over the next few months, we'll be working with them to transition the server.

We'll be teaching them the ropes of what it is we do, moving the server's legal ownership from my name to one of theirs, and so on. We'll also be transferring all of the donation money to a new account managed by one of them -- so that all of your generous donations will continue to give life to this place for many years to come.

Questions about this transition can be addressed to the Global Admin user group, or to me directly if you'd prefer. We intend for this process to be as smooth and unnoticeable for you, the player, as it can be. But we wanted to let you know what was going on before we began transitioning.

Thank you!

The server has been officially transferred into Miasmata and Zanniej's ownership, and many of you will notice their names are light blue now, and Maecius's and mine are white! For the time being we're still going to remain in the fold in advisory roles, but as of today Miasmata and Zanniej are officially your new glorious leaders.

Congratulations you two, I'm excited to see what you bring to the table!

Just to add to the above, the PayPal link should now be pointing to the new account. I'll be transferring the money in the existing server treasury to the new one this weekend as well.

Those of you who are set up for automatic payments will want to point those payments at the new account, and cancel the existing payments to the old account. I'll try to cancel them myself if it lets me on my end.

It's been a great honor serving all of you. I have to admit that I did not really want or plan to become admin -- only stepping in out of my first attempt at retirement because the server looked like it was about to die off at the time -- and I certainly didn't expect to be in the position for as long as I was! But it was nonetheless a lot of fun, and hopefully Endelyon and I brought some improvements over the past three and a half years.

I expect Miasmata and Zanniej will bring many more with their tenure! I have complete faith in both of them: And they have an amazing team, and amazing players, to help them move BG:TSCC forever forward!

I am pleased to announce that the admin changeover has been completed: Ownership of the server, the bgtscc.net domain name, and the forum have all been transferred to the new administration now.

All of the server funds in the old PayPal account have also been transferred over to the new PayPal account. (I did figure out how to cancel recurring payments on my end, as well, so if you were signed up for one of those on the old account -- and you hadn't cancelled it on your own already -- those have all been cancelled.)

A big thank you to Zanniej and Miasmata for their work in ensuring that the ownership transfer was completed ahead of our end-of-the-year goal line, and for making every effort throughout the long process to ensure that players felt little to no impact from the changeover in terms of access or connectivity to the server or the forum.

Endelyon and I will be decoupling ourselves from the tangled web of networks, PM groups, Discord groups, and other communication apparatuses over the next several weeks. We'll remain "around" in an advisory capacity for however long is deemed valuable (or until we wander off and stop replying), but as we are no longer official staff members, we will no longer have any decision making authority here at BG:TSCC.

Here's wishing everyone a happy holiday season and an exciting new year. Thank you all for a wonderful decade.

Hello BG Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce my retirement. There were many things that came together to make this decision for me, but it is something that I have known about since early June. I suspect that this pandemic has changed everyone's lives in some capacity: It certainly has changed mine. Unexpected deaths and dealing with other losses and health issues in real life have drawn me away from the server. Unfortunately, now I must step down to take the time I need to take to look after myself and my family, and to deal with problems that I have been ignoring.

This announcement should come as no shock to our staff, as I made the announcement staff-side in preparation for this nearly a month ago. Zanniej has also known since early June, as I attempted to give as much heads up as possible. However, if any of you would like to reach out, with questions or because you just want to chat, I’ll still be lurking here and there and helping Zanniej if he ever goes on vacation or etc. I will be sticking around in an advisory and backup capacity, but I cannot stay on as admin. I cannot devote the time that's needed for that job without stealing that time away from people who depend on me.

I have had a wonderful time on the server, and poured my efforts into it through the years in various aspects as Player, Developer, DM, and finally Admin. It is a wonderful hobby and a good place to provide expression to stories through a unique video game setting. I sincerely hope that everyone will remember the golden rule of treating each other as you’d like to be treated and keep in mind all of the staff work is volunteer work.

Thank you to those who have supported me as friends, as staff, and as players. You all made the journey fun.

Kind Regards,
Miasmata
