Welcome to Baldur's Gate: A Message to New Players

Welcome to Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles (BG:TSCC)!

Ours is a persistent, online role-playing world with more than ten years of history behind it -- still going strong in 2019. Because we frequently see new players logging onto both the server and the forums, we are making a concerted effort to make information more available to you. We know that to someone brand new, getting one's bearings may seem difficult with so much information to absorb. So here is a little run down of where we are coming from, and where we are going.

The overall goal of BG:TSCC is to provide a persistent game world that everyone can play in and enjoy. From the hardened role-player to the seasoned monster slayer, we welcome everyone to our collaborative story. All that we ask is that you be kind to those around you and that you follow the server's rules.

BG:TSCC is currently made up of more than 50 staff members. This includes around 20 developers and administrators, more than 20 Dungeon Masters, 4 forum moderators, 5 media content creators, and 10 quality control testers. Each of these individuals works for free, in their spare time, out of their love of Neverwinter Nights 2, BG:TSCC, D&D, and the Forgotten Realms. Together, with our hundreds of players, we are building a persistent world that spans the Sword Coast and beyond.

We have over 325 exquisitely-detailed and expertly-built area maps in game for you to explore, dozens of custom classes and feats, scores of new spells -- and as we grow we continue to add new areas, better monsters, unique features, quests and more.

Please ask questions of the community if you have them, and be sure to check out the wiki for a wealth of information on the custom content of the server, its lore, and its history.

Once again, we welcome you warmly, and thank you for joining us in Ed Greenwood's Forgotten Realms campaign setting: The greatest fantasy creation of our time!
