Savage Kind of the Sword Coast (Player/DM IC RP)

Unread post by DM Dialectic »

Rumor spreads among savage Orc-kind, including Gray Orc and Half-Orc of a less civilization inclined nature, that Uruk Lurra is to soon host a deeply solemn religious ritual in homage to Gruumsh near the fallen rock of the settlement. All orcs that respect He Who Never Sleeps are said to be invited to observe and participate. Traveling cleric-heralds of Gruumsh preach across the Sword Coast of the occasion. Many even non-Black Orc savage Orcs are said to begin pilgrimage to the rock in Uruk Lurra in anticipation.

The cleric would growl then attack Throg fiercely with his battleaxe. Seeing Throg withstand the blows and still standing, the cleric would begin to laugh cruelly and then speak in Orcish. "Strong, you be. Worthy, you are. Come. Come. With me, to the rock of the One Eye'd."

A grey orc smelling of damp cave, smokey hearth, and blood of a recently killed elf; sniffs out the location of a herald of the One-Eye'd.

<Speaking to him in orcish with a growl>

"Orc kin, tell me quickly of this 'ritual' and where it be... before I cull you from my sight"

A Gruuman herald is met upon in the wilderness a way off the road of the Trade Way by a human male. He arrives from downwind in an attempt to have an upper hand of surprise.

This stout berserker has long raven black hair with two large plaits one on either side of his head. A Rashemen waraxe is carried in one hand and a javelin in the other. Strong shoulders are covered in a grey wolf skin for a cloak. He wears little else but a battle harness of belts and a plate, a loincloth, and chain mesh boots lined with winter-wolf fur.

The stranger's approach is cautious, edging toward the orc until he is bordering charging distance. Sky blue eyes are wide and wild, baring their whites. He speaks in common tongue saturated with Rassalesian accent and booming with barbaric authority, "Your people - they throng together. I come with an offer of war for your warriors - to raid, to kill ... to conquer!"

Suddenly, Kanithar acts - the crude javelin is mightily hurled - it seemed at the orc, but strikes the ground well before him. It quivers then stands there as if offered.

"Bring me to this Uruk Lurra, and I will tell you of war - or, if it seems better to you, take up this spear and war with me now!"

Kanithar's response if the orc takes the spear:
Hidden: show
He begins the battle with a threat to cannibalize the orc; with the face of a snarling wolf Kanithar further flares the whites of his eyes and ejects his pink tongue against his stubbled chin - at the same time he bows from the exertion of a truly guttural roar, axe clenched in both hands as his strength and aggression surges.
In the red frenzy of furious rage Kanithar pounces into melee with the speed of a lion to hew the beast to pieces in a relentless offensive, recklessly accepting orcish violence against himself in the whirlwind of chaotic battle.
(Level 6 barbarian/6 Frenzied Berserker).
If he were victorious, true to his challenge, Kanithar would portion the orc's best flesh and organs, especially the eyes, and wrap them in a bundle to carry away with him.

The herald of Gruumsh roars with rage and lunges at the orc asking him the question with his spear aimed at his heart. Seeing his intended victim strong enough to glance away his fierce attacks, he ceases combat and makes a gesture of salute to his chest with his spear in his left strong arm. "Come with me, worthy orc, to Uruk Lurra. Together we will see the power of Gruumsh."

The herald lets loose an enraged growl and then a laugh and lunges into battle with his powerful great sword. The battle is bloody and fierce, both opponents are cut and and bloodied. The herald then says in Orcish that Kanithar may yet get his chance to spill more blood. He is worthy. "Come to the molten rock at Uruk Lurra. See what the One Eyed has in store for us mere servants of his glorious rage."

In the upper elevations of the Trielta hills, an unseen presence returns to a lonely tent.
In that tent, atop a pile of furs, sits a swaying figure. Naked but for a loincloth, the wiry, black-hued orc opens his eyes with a gasp. He stirs the brazier, filled with now-spent sage. A large serpent slithers from around it's warmth, going out into the cool night and away from the thick mind-altering smoke. Gothmog follows suit; he needs air.

The seer had seen, and heard, much this night. Animals and spirits of the land ran about and gossiped like den-wives. The full moon only intensified it, for it affects beasts and fey and wild-folk in ways not understood by the "civilized". His far-sight journey confirmed their tales.

Gothmog looks out from his small camp over the plains to the West.
"My people gather.." he says softly

A large white wolf curled up nearby fixes him in an icy blue gaze. He meets it with his own. The orc's eyes shine like coals against the blackness of his skin, and white fangs are bared in a foul grimace that could only be a smile.

" for One-Eye is calling!"
With that, he breaks camp and makes his way North to Uruk Lurra.

// Gothmog can cast commune with nature and greater scry, as well as speak with animals.

*As more and more orcs of western Faerun gather, the ritual of the rock of Gruumsh nears. Orcs fiercely battle each other in anticipation and growing bored of waiting if having arrived early.*

((The Uruk Lurra event is scheduled to happen Saturday, May 28 at 17:00 GMT.))

*Gothmog would, by scry or tracking, find other pilgrims on the way to the settlement, but before he could join them, one herald of Gruumsh challenges him to single combat, doubting his worthiness.

The priest charges with spear in hand, stabbing at the black-hued orc's torso, but Gothmog glances the blows aside. After the frenzy of sudden battle, the priest seems to relent and smiles showing a broken mouth of green teeth, then saying in Orcish. "You worthy. Come with us, see the pride of our race!"*

Gothmog heads from his tent towards one of the many bonfires scattered about Uruk Lurra.
Accustomed to the boisterous shoving, glares and comparison of scars that passes for social interaction in the Orcish settlement, he reaches the warmth of the fire in little time.

He takes a moment to adjust to the sudden brightness, then spots an unoccupied spot on a log.
The dark orc makes his way over, only to find some grey whelp about to take a seat, his seat.. He was having none of it. The shaman stalked up behind the now-seated orc and paused for a moment, gauging distance. With a strong kick to the spine, Gothmog sent the pup flying forard into the pyre. His shrieks of pain brought raucous laughter all about him.
Yellow fangs flash in what might pass as a grin across the seer's black face as the burnt orc skulks off to lick it's wounds. Gruumsh would be pleased, he thought.

His orange eyes scan those gathered about the fire for anyone that might stick out...

It is said among savage orc-kind that a ritual was held in the crater of Uruk Lurra, with all high elders of the Black Orc settlement attending, as well as many regional Orcish pilgrims. It is said that near the end of the ritual that a gnome with a scheme against the tribe exploded on the meteor rock and there was much commotion about finding those responsible, perhaps at first in the nearby Trielta Hills.

A large Orc is seen moving throughout the Orcish Camp proselytizing about an unnamed God of Storms which will deliver destruction and terror upon the enemies of the Orcish people.

There was talk in the wilds, had orcs from Uruk Lurra been traveling beyond the Chiontar? Careful rumours, substantiated they would need to be. The elves were certainly concerned, as was the Elder Circle. A meeting took place in Doron Amar after missives were sent. There, concerns were laid bare, and a plan commenced.

Rangers and druids set off to the Uldoon trail, to the borders of the Chiontar and the Woods of Sharp Teeth. It's first scoutings were underway. Over the days, the rangers and druids set out on their tasks.
