Some may see that the Sheriff of Beregost seems to be largely absent from his office in recent days.

An hour into the conversation the door to the Thalantyr estate suddenly slams shut on its own accord and locks, barring all from entry. The eerily silent golems take up their posts right next to the door and hover there for the next hour as the sun dips behind the horizon and trickles of moonlight begin dance across the land.

All is silent for a long while until a soft click of the door to the estate is heard and suddenly opened. A masked woman and a knight are seen striding out of the confines, unharmed.

As the light of the moon sweeps across the Dawnknight’s features, a fiery conviction reveals itself.

One more piece to the puzzle. . .

Edmund approaches the various commoners and people of Beregost he has met in his activities to aid and support the town including;

Several men who came to a meeting of the nature minded offering work, Janet and her mother who where involved in the bread baking efforts, Samuel Feldepost who took a healthy fee from Ed to arrange flour supplies and use of his ovens, a man also named Ed who wanders town doing odd jobs he chatted with one evening waiting for people to gather to oppose bandits troubling the town, those who would have been present when he blessed and consecrated some of the "Butcher's" murder victims as well as the stable and in-town farmers who many have likely seen him aiding with farm chores.

To each of these people he says a variation of:

"Good day to ya there. Hope I be findin ya well eh? I be wishin to tell ya that in 'bout three tendays time one of them fellas of Lathander from the temple here be plannin make a speech 'bout matters here in Beregost 'n some of the recent troubles it be under. Praps ya knowin of him, the good Paladin Eldarian.

Now as ya all be knowin them folks of Lathander been long lookin over the place 'n keepin it safe 'n the good folk here seen to, even long afore them Amn sorts come with them armies 'n say the town be theirs. I think it most proper ya keep ya ear open 'bout his comin speech 'n be goin listen when the time come.

I be knowin the fella a bit, 'n more so knowin he be a Paladin of Lathander which I s'pect speak proper well of his character eh? I think be wise folk go, listen on what he have to be sayin 'n thinkin on it.

Bounty of the Earthmother to ya."

Edmund has these conversations openly. He simply walks up to the people he knows around town and chattily speaks to them on street corners, in the tavern, at the trading stands and in the streets.

A golden haired Dawnknight and three others can be seen leaving the confines of the holy temple in the town of Beregost under the cloak of night.

They traipse lightly through the moonlit streets and weave in between the shadowed-clung buildings until they stop in front of a specific door to an old, abandoned home.

The group’s eyes are drawn to the sign hung upon it's frame. Heavy bolded letters with their imminent warning peer back at them.

CONDEMNED PROPERY & CRIME SCENE: DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE AMNIAN AUTHORITIES.

With a flick of his wrist the Dawnknight produces a scroll in hand that lends to his companion’s relief before their attention is turned back to the sealed door.

A man in a hat can be seen whispering before a chill of winter creeps over the wooden barrier, breaking whatever had previously kept it sealed against intruders.

Once the group filters inside, the door is closed and not to be opened again. An eerie silence fills the void.

----

Sometime later, in the early rays of dawn’s light, the paladin is curiously seen roaming the town once more.

Gossip spreads in Beregost that for whatever the reason, there has been little noticeable crime, violent or otherwise, in Beregost the past few tenday. Perhaps, some say, this period of disorder and crime is at an end. Still though, the recent Amnian tax increases remain on the lips of many denizens of the town as a partisan and controversial political subject. Some, it is said, have suffered greatly from the tax increases, while others seem to weather the tax increases with little issue given some recent positive local economic developments in trade and the labor market partly brought upon by the efforts of foreign adventurers to employ and buy goods and services from Beregost residents. Whether the worst has past and a new dawn is ahead for Beregost is a hotly debated issue in the local tavern. Similarly, what exactly Beregost is receiving from the increased tax payments to Amn remains a lively topic of discussion among locals as well.

Postings are put up in public areas of Beregost and Nashkel bearing the seal of Amn:
Over the next tenday, official war memoriums will be held in Beregost to honor the fallen and wounded of the victorious armies of Amn in the Amn-Gate War. All gave some. Some gave all.

Seemingly simultaneously, rumor spreads of an unusually large caravan headed to Beregost from the south, guarded apparently by the Amnian military, with great speculation over what it contains.

On the first day of memorial the Governess of Beregost and Lady Narasida Zakine of Amn both held speeches in honour of the War. With the Governess pointing out the improvments in wealth, commerce and religious liberty that Amnian protection brought to Beregost, while Lady Narasidas speech honoured the noble sacrafice of the Amnian soldiers, reminding that often Greatness demands Sacrafice.

A Very Beregost Coup

Rumor spreads like wild fire throughout Amn, the Sword Coast, and the Western Heartlands that the Governess Isabella Benino of Beregost has been deposed from power by a coalition of Lathanderites, local Beregost leaders, the Sheriff de Oca of Amn, and some Amnian soldiers and deputies for her crimes of murder, theft, embezzlement and treason, among many others. Knight-Commander Eldarian Al'maire of the Song of the Morning temple, a key ringleader of the effort, is said to be given a hero level of applause from those gathered as he brought a bound and gagged former Governess Benino to the Song of the Morning temple to be held and charged for her crimes by the Sheriff de Oca. It is also said that Sheriff de Oca is now interim head of Beregost under Amn as the political fate of the town is worked out over the coming tenday now that the dark times in Beregost seem to be ending. Public proclamation is also given shortly thereafter that the Sheriff has written the Council of Six explaining Governess Benino's crimes and insisting on the removal all tax hikes imposed on Beregost, which the Council of Six swiftly agrees to do given the political embarrassment of Benino.

A Ceremony of Bright Appreciation

Rumor spreads that a ceremony was held in the Song of the Morning temple in Beregost honoring those who aided Beregost in removing the alleged corrupt Amnian tyrant Isabella Benino. Adventurer friends and allies of the Lathanderite temple as well as bystanders and well-known and lesser-known townsfolk of Beregost attend the ceremony. The Most Radiant High Priest Kelddath Ormlyr read off a long list of names of those who aided Beregost:

Wyn
Edmund
Eowiel
Cela
Neschera
Cecilia
Dave Counterpunch
Tolan
Enora
Jassin
Tari
Endelyon
Fiera
Tegeus
Thalantyr the Conjurer
Sheriff de Oca
Thunderhammer

The Most Radiant reserved special mention for Eldarian Al'maire, who over more than a year and a half, at great risk to himself, had struggled and slogged in the dark and light to uncover what Benino was up to and when discovered to assemble a political coalition to cautiously remove her from power for her allged crimes. As a special thanks, Kelddath gifted a relic of the church, Saint Lighthammer's Armor of Divine Golden Brilliance, into Eldarian's care and service in the name of the god Lathander, Lord of the Sun.

After the ceremony ends, rumor spreads that final judgement regarding the alleged criminal Benino will take place within a few tenday, as the evidence against her is so extensive that it is taking some time to gather by Sheriff de Oca's office to judge her in full. Many a local Beregost resident, residents not of Amn originally, speak eagerly of seeing Benino's head departing from her body and of general unhappiness and displeasure with Amn, perhaps the kindest phrase being stated: "Amnians, they're awful, only one who ain't too bad is that Sheriff de Oca."

((OOC: I want to thank everyone that was involved in the Beregost/Amn 1351 campaign really since late 2013, even before I started working with it in the second half of 2014. First, an extra special OOC mention to Miasmata/Eldarian IC that drove this plot forward on his own player initiative and leadership OOC/IC at multiple junctures, through many OOC/IC ups and downs, since December 2013, for a year and a half, and sticking with it. I want to also make a special mention of many other players/characters that had a significant, multi-event and plot arc role in driving this plot and its RP forward, since I took this campaign up in the second half of 2014, with varying degrees of involvement. All of these characters/players were trying to drive the outcome in one way or another, but together, regardless of the outcome in character, they did what we all strive to do in this wonderful RPing community of ours: tell a great and varied story. If I missed your name, as there were a lot of players involved over time, please PM me to add it.
